Welcome to Black Rock Tennis, one of the best kept secrets in Bayside Melbourne. Tucked away in an idyllic location on Fern St, we are just minutes from the thriving hub of Black Rock cafes and shops and the beautiful sandy beaches of Half Moon Bay.
We play both social and competitive tennis all year round on our four floodlit en-tout-cas courts. And due to the fabulous weather we’re having, we’re lucky enough to have four pristine grass courts that open for nearly 9 months of the year.
Our players participate at all levels and ages, including juniors, social and competitive women, men and mixed.
We are always happy to welcome new members!
Keep up with all our latest news via our facebook page. Or contact our tennis captain by phone or email.

BLACK ROCK TENNIS COACHING ACADEMY (BRTCA)
Established by Tennis Australia qualified club professional Gary Sugden, BRTCA implements the latest coaching techniques and delivers a holistic tennis program targeted at the objectives and standards of all students. Only fully qualified Tennis Australia coaches are in Gary’s team working exclusively from Black Rock Sports Club.
Gary uses 35 years of coaching experience in all facets of coaching including club, state and international level. The BRTCA professional program caters to all ages and standards, creating a pathway from beginner to elite level.
Each individual program is taught and experienced using a system of building blocks to achieve a strong foundation of technique and knowledge. From the beginning this individual pathway is established so that students move from fundamental classes to performance classes and then to high-performance classes.
The BRTCA philosophy is simple:
• Teach and listen
• Learn and understand
• Work hard together
and amazing results will happen!
COMPLEMENTARY ASSESSMENT SESSIONS
All students deserve to be assessed first and then guided into the most appropriate structure for optimised learning. No students will be allocated to a class over the phone so please call Gary to arrange an assessment time.
Gary’s team uses a small group approach because learning is paramount and close attention can only be given when the class size is small. BRTCA coaches will recommend the ideal structure in your initial Assessment session.
All of the BRTCA students are encouraged to play junior competitive tennis through the Black Rock Sports Club. We have multiple teams competing at all levels and seasons year round.
